Welcome,
my name is Trevor R. Soiles
and this is my teaching portfolio website!

My Teaching Philosophy:

As educators it is our duty to ensure the individual success of every student as a future member/participant of the greater society around them. This must be accomplished effectively and  accurately no matter their challenges, differences, or their cultural identity. This task is of the upmost importance  because we as educators are responsible for not just teaching our students, we are responsible for creating, developing, and even sometimes maintaining our students individual identities. Through the use of constantly updated teaching strategies and the effective implementation of cohesive educational technology this tremendous goal can be accomplished. Being a teacher is the path that I have chosen in an attempt to make the terrible world around me a better place. I will do this by being the beacon of safety, acceptance, understanding, and sensitivity for all of my students to provide them with the best possible outcome through their individual educational experiences.

Classroom Management Philosophy:

The way I see classroom management, it is an opportunity to streamline the educational process to make it as smooth and simple as possible. I believe that this can be accomplished by having a classroom that is organized in a way that best meets the needs of the students in it and the lessons taught there. Whether there is a student who struggles to focus and needs to be closer to the board or allowed to move around from time to time, or even a student with allergies who may need to be closer to the tissues so they dont disrupt other students learning. It is a way of meeting the students needs and provide a smooth as well as cohesive educational experience. I believe in the beauty of organization but also have a heavy investment in letting kids be kids. This means that I will never be afraid to simply let them all get up and move, have a lesson outside, or maybe even have dance parties once a day. Providing a well thought out environment for my students to learn in will be  one of my greatest priorities once I have my own classroom.

Artifacts:

These photo's are of the bulletin boards that I created with my students for the month of October (Halloween). They feature a powerful quote by the Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington. In addition to this the students creating their very own "belief pumpkins." Creating these boards with my students was a really fun and insightful process. Also, having this bulletin board up was a really useful tool in reminding students to never give up.
